about & contact :

b. 1977, Sai Gon Viet Nam
Lives and works Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Graduate from the Industrial Design program at the University of New South Wales, Kensington (Australia) in 2001 and received his Masters of Digital Media from the University of Newcastle, Newcastle (Australia) in 2010.

Kevin Quan-Tuan Trinh has been in the design industry for over ten years giving him time and experience to become well-rounded in many design areas of product development, graphic design, outdoor/retail advertising, exhibition, brand identity, digital and multimedia. During this time, he has worked for a variety of different companies of varying shapes and sizes, worked on international FMCG brands, managed his own branding projects, mentored students, and inspired others as they have inspired him.

The driving force in his growth and development (as a creative person) is being inspired by various artists and working in education. He has been in education for ten years – currently, a Faculty member delivering courses in Photography, Typography, Drawing, Web Development, and Graphic Design(formerly 2D Animation, Colour theory, and Principles in 3D Modelling).

His time in the United Arab Emirates has allowed him to explore and delve more into a photographic journey as an artist.  His current tools are Canon 5D cameras for all types of photography. The Leica digital M240 camera is his ‘travel & do everything’ camera. He also shoots medium format with the Mamiya RZ67 Pro II for conceptual Fine Art photography.

Trinh has tendered and attained several grants, managed a media department, mentored undergraduates into first prize awards in local art & design competitions, coached alumni into startups and successful businesses.  Currently, he is working towards a Ph.D. in Fine Arts (University of Newcastle).  It is a research project which explores various challenges and manners of artistic expression in Middle Eastern societies, more specifically, it is examining the role of photography in a country (U.A.E) facing exacerbating and disseminating changes.

His various creative projects in multiple disciplines illustrate his thirst for knowledge and anything creative. His experience over the years has taught him that creativity is not just fixed into one subject but should be extended into others. His creative interests currently lie in digital art and photography. His current artistic practice is the film camera and darkroom processing techniques. These processes and skills have raised levels of observation, and a keen sense of detail also complements other disciplines in creative thinking and visual communication.

He is always passionate about his existing projects and driven by new challenges – with a desire to take the next project further than the last.

Please feel free to contact him for more information, or regarding any creative, collaborative work.
